Kadji Amin is an Assistant Professor of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Emory University. He has written extensively about gender politics, race, sexuality, and often pushes back on contemporary ideas and language relating to gender and identity.
Amin views the current mantra surrounding gender identity as a fiction that has done trans people more harm than good, and negatively affected conversation about gender. His upcoming book, Trans Materialism without Gender Identity, lays out the foundation for a materialist trans theory that does not depend on gender identity and opposes the systemic oppression of trans people, primarily trans women of color.
